"I was amazed at how easy it was to make small changes that have had such a profound effect in my life. When I first joined the Taking Control of Your Career Bootcamp, I was skeptical that I could actually make any change, but I'm already seeing results from taking small steps.

At the beginning, I joined the live calls from my office. Now that I am better able to manage my own time and the time of my team members, just 8 weeks later I can make it home for the group calls. I initially thought my teammates would be resentful of me as I changed my way of working. In fact, they are very complimentary of how respectful I am of their time and how much more efficient I am.

This program will show you why you're feeling stuck as well as how to take back control of your career."

"I fall into the same traps with each new job. I found the Taking Control of Your Career Bootcamp to be very valuable in helping me assess the reasons why I do so. It also provided tools to help me examine my core values, how I set boundaries, how to identify the appropriate tasks to take responsibility for in my work as well as how to evaluate my circle of influencers.

It has impacted me and my interactions with others well beyond my career. I found it provided really important "life lessons" and tools that you may otherwise never have the opportunity to come across, allowing you to evaluate and improve every aspect of your life. After you've been through TCCB, you will have a new way of looking at how and why you act/react to everything around you in terms of your personal values and standards."

"I was a little hesitant about being part of a group call when I first learned about the Taking Control of Your Career Bootcamp. However, while participating in the program, I found sharing experiences with peers in different companies and industries extremely helpful and insightful."

"I joined to figure out whether a career change would be right for me. But moments into the first session, I realized that it was so much more. The Taking Control of Your Career Bootcamp enabled me to better articulate my thoughts and understand my behavior resulting in increased self-awareness. I was amazed to discover how this impacted not only my professional life but my personal life as well. The TCCB experience has put me in touch with my own ability to look inside and make changes to achieve personal and professional growth."

"Six months later the process is still working for me. I have changed my core belief and no longer believe I have to change careers in order to be happy. It's more about making a good living, doing what I know best and creating a decent work/life balance. I work for one of the best companies in the world, have a good job, have friends I love around me at work-I'm happier than I ever realized!"

"I am far clearer on my personal and professional boundaries and have learned to take nothing personally - this is just business. The Taking Control of Your Career Bootcamp was an extremely eye-opening experience that provided me with a better sense of myself, who I am, and where I want and need to go, both professionally and personally.

I have taken simple, little steps so far - small changes to everyday routines, limiting unnecessary "noise" from news media, etc. to help me think differently about work and alleviate my frustrations. I appreciated the camaraderie of others experiencing the same challenges I face."

Heather Warta
Vice President, Hill & Knowlton

"The Taking Control of Your Career Bootcamp was really helpful not just from a career standpoint but even as a general guide for how to navigate through different situations. When I first started TCCB, I really didn't think I had a lot of options, based on what I had heard from others. But this experience helped me realize that what 'they' say doesn't really matter. Slowly I'm starting to see how I make automatic assumptions about what I 'should' or 'shouldn't' do, both at work and outside work, and I've been learning to challenge my thinking.

I found it helpful to hear what others were experiencing. A lot of what we discussed was pretty eye-opening, and it's made me rethink how I conduct myself at work and even in social settings. So far, I've been taking small steps, changing small things to keep reminding myself that I'm in a transitional phase-it's helped keep me more focused on changing how I go through my day and motivated me by helping me remember when I've felt that I was doing really well.

I learned that I have more control than I thought by understanding what is controlling and driving my thoughts and actions."

About Amanda Mitchell

Amanda MitchellAmanda Mitchell is the founder of Our Corporate Life LLC (www.ourcorporatelife.com), a company that offers a new system for reducing unnecessary workplace suffering caused by the organizational, interpersonal, and ethical issues of our time. Our Corporate Life (OCL) is founded on the belief that adhering to core human values and achieving business success are always compatible. A belief crystallized for Amanda during her corporate career each time she witnessed a company sacrifice profitability by wasting human capital.

As an advertising agency account executive, she saw how the consolidations of the 1980s created vast, new bureaucracies where the negative impact of poor managerial decisions was felt but not addressed. Working closely with small companies as well as blue chip clients, she learned that the causes and effects of corporate suffering were not individual or industry-specific. At this time, she came to a deeper understanding of how profoundly the happiness and productivity of employees impacts the bottom line. Subsequently, as the Managing Director of Lowe Healthcare Union, she learned the ultimate lesson about corporate suffering. Even top executives with the power to make significant policy changes are often trapped within their corporate cultures and end up perpetuating the suffering they wish to eliminate.

In addition to her business experience, Amanda's insight into the causes of, and solutions for, suffering come from her personal experience as a life-long “optimistic sufferer” of Irish descent. The OCL system reflects her experience and insight gained from a 20-year corporate career working with Fortune 500 companies, and as an executive coach to senior-level corporate executives. She has a BA in advertising from Michigan State University and lives in New Jersey with her family.
