The Genius Behind Taking Control of Your Career®
Amanda Mitchell is the founder of Our Corporate Life, LLC (www.ourcorporatelife.com), a company that offers a new system for reducing unnecessary workplace suffering caused by the organizational, interpersonal, and ethical issues of our time. Our Corporate Life (OCL) is founded on the belief that acting humanely while achieving business success is actually possible (incredible but true!)
Early in her advertising career Amanda worked within vast bureaucracies that allowed poor management to be rewarded. Although bitter, she was able to rise through the ranks and ultimately understand that no matter what your level, sometimes the corporate culture handcuffs you and makes it virtually impossible to avoid creating the very suffering you want to eliminate.
Along the way she worked with both small and blue–chip companies who avoided dealing with the suffering directly — the elephant in the room.* As a practical problem solver, she began a quest to understand how to cope without losing her mind–and voila, Taking Control of your Career® was created.
Knowing how ridiculous it was that companies were losing big bucks and burning people out, Amanda decided to name that elephant–“corporate suffering”–and dedicate her time helping people deal with work challenges while staying true to themselves. With cocktail in hand, she has proven that the happiness and productivity of employees profoundly affects the bottom line
Take a moment and let that sink in…
“The happiness and productivity of employees profoundly affects the bottom line.”
In the executive suite when she was running an ad agency, Amanda had the ultimate “aha”–even if you’re the boss and want to fix things, you don’t necessarily have the power to make significant changes. So instead of just cashing her paycheck and keeping her mouth shut, she chose to do something about it and founded Our Corporate Life in 2009. If you want to laugh through the tears and actually solve real problems, Amanda is here to help.
